Val Emmich = Today's Crush

He made Judah Friedlander “turn gay” on 30 Rock. And this fall he’s playing the sweet temptation living next door to Ugly Betty. But right now I’m crushing on singer/songwriter/actor Val Emmich because of the song-by-song video series he launched promoting his solid-sounding new album, Little Daggers, due out next week (Sept. 23rd).

Emmich is easy on the camera, and he’s fun to watch. And his music is a sonic treat that’s strummy, melodic, articulate, emotional, poppy and fun. On his new album, he wants to pay tribute to great 60’s pop (he references Pet Sounds and Sgt. Pepper’s); but the sound is delightfully current. And he’s got puppy-dog eyes, which never hurts either.

His MySpace is full of all the clips (watch the monkey romance of “We Still Bleed,” song #8; or just start at the beginning with “The Lucky Ones” and work your way through!). Or just watch it below.
