Varla Jean Merman Takes A Bite Out Of “Snow White And The Seven Bottoms”

Drag star Varla Jean Merman returns to Off-Broadway in Ryan Landry’s fabulous new musical, Snow White and the Seven Bottoms, debuting September 19 at Theatre 80 in the East Village.

Based on the classic Disney animated film, Snow White and the Seven Bottoms The show combines elements of burlesque, vaudeville, Commedia Dell’Arte, Shakespeare, classic sitcoms and and Charles Ludlam’s Theater of the Ridiculous.

In the show, Varla plays against type as Prince Charming to Jessica Barstis' Snow White, with Olive Another as The Magic Mirror, Scott Martino as The Footman and Landry himself as The Evil Queen.

Of course, Varla has teamed with Landry's Gold Dust Orphans theater troupe before, with Mildred Fierce and The Phantom of the Oprah. And Landry's has visited fairy-tale land before, as well, with instant classics like Mary Poppers, Peter Pansy, and even Pornocchio.
