Men’s Fashion Week has just ended and the Fall 2012 shows are only a few weeks off, but still the powers that be found a way to squeeze one week of shows in between — Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture.
Kicking things off today in Paris were Dior, still headed up by former John Galliano assistant Bill Gaytten, and Versace. Two wildly different lines with two wildly different presentations.
Versace returned after an eight-year hiatus from the couture world, with Donatella presenting just the kind of show one would expect. Sexy women in lace, metallics and vibrant greens, yellows and oranges, the women meant to represent “glamorous warriors.”
Over at Dior, the show had an almost fifties air about it. Oversized ball gowns in chiffon and with giant tulle skirts, A-line suits and knife pleated skirts.
Take a peek at looks from the two collections above.
