People who say the U.S. is a perfect representation of greedy, self-serving commercialism have never been to an H&M store with a Versace collection in Shanghai or London.

The Versace collaboration in Europe and Asia went on sale this morning and WWD reports crowds began lining up yesterday. Many Chinese customers,smartly, paid people to wait in line for them. Then, someone deigned to try to cut the line and all hell broke loose. Oops!

In fact, many of the people clamoring to get in the store were Chinese men, eager to buy everything out and then resell it online.

But Shanghai wasn’t the only place grappling with a large crowd.  London didn’t have outright fighting but shoppers went nuts when Donatella Versace stopped by for an appearance. They were given only ten minutes inside the store to make their purchases, and there was much eye-glaring and foot-stomping according to The Cut’s reporter who was on the scene.

Sounds like a scene straight out of Confessions of a Shopaholic. Those people sound crazy! They sound out-of-control!

We wish we were there too.
