The Lingerie CEO of Victoria's Secret Is Stepping Down

The news comes shortly after CMO Ed Razek's transphobic and fatphobic remarks stirred controversy.

Victoria's Secret CEO of lingerie Jan Singer is resigning.

The news, confirmed today by The Hollywood Reporter, comes less than a week after exec Ed Razek's fatphobic and transphobic comments about plus-size and transgender models at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show made the rounds.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Razek said that he wouldn't put plus-size or transgender models on the runway, using outdated terminology to refer to trans women:

It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special.

He later apologized for the offensive remarks and clarified that he "would" cast a trans model. In fact, VS has had some trans models apply; they just "didn't make it."

It's unclear whether Singer's departure is directly linked to Razek's comments, especially since the company has suffered a decline in commercial success in recent years. Singer joined the company from Spanx and has helmed the lingerie division for two years.

However, L Brands, VS's parent company, is expected to release a statement about Singer's exit when its quarterly earnings are publicized next Monday.
