The summer solstice may have been Wednesday, but here in New York it won’t feel like summer has officially begun until this weekend. That’s when the city will be taken over from lower Manhattan to outer Brooklyn with pride parades, celebrations, and a lot of people drinking in tank tops.
Speaking of, deciding what to wear for Pride every year is always a challenge. They’re some of the first big parties of the summer, and your attire can really set the tone for your ‘summer look’ of the year. (My summer look this year is ‘minor gay member of Dr Teeth and The Electric Mayhem who’s casual frenemies with Stevie Nicks’)
Luckily, Macy’s is here to help. The department store has events at stores all over the country for Pride, and you can find a lot of looks there for whatever way you may be celebrating.
I recently stopped by the Macy’s store in Herald Square to shop for the perfect Pride outfit, and brought along designer Viktor Luna to give me some pointers. Check out the short segment above, and you can find out more about Macy’s involvement with Pride celebrations here.
