Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming movie The Master has been shrouded in mystery (and, with its purported depiction of something a little too close to a certain religion popular with celebrities, has taken years to get made). Today, we see the first footage from the film in the above ominous teaser, which leaves us with more questions than answers about the film, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as a cult leader and Joaquin Phoenix as his drifter sidekick. There are also mid-century sailors wrestling on a beach and a kind of feel reminiscent of A Single Man. Enjoy.
