Video: Jack Black Talks 'Bernie' Character's Sexuality

In Jack Black's new film, Bernie, the comic actor takes a turn for the serious. Seriously demented, that is. He plays Bernie, a mortician's assistant beloved in his small East Texas Town. After starting to work for an old, wealthy woman (played by Shirley McClaine) her constant need for attention drives Bernie to murder. Then, he just hides her in the icebox and goes about his business being the most popular guy in town.

The most bizarre thing about this story is probably that it's true. Black even visited the real Bernie Tiede in prison while he was researching for the role. We talked with Black about the crime the movie's based on, and how he approached the character's confusing sexuality. Check it out above.
