Video: Unleashed in Jerusalem's Old City

The historic city of Jerusalem is just a short drive from Tel Aviv (you can get there in under an hour) and well worth a visit. Sacred to Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, the presence of Jerusalem looms large. However, the old city (where many of Jerusalem’s most well-known sites are located) is surprisingly small. The ancient stone walls of the old city enclose an area that is only about half a square mile.

Inside these walls, a visitor can find world-famous sites like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Western Wall, and the Dome of the Rock. Even if you’re not religious, this busy, colorful area definitely has some interesting sights.

The souk is the main market in Jerusalem and fills the narrow, winding, intersecting streets of the old city with intricate trinkets and bizarre souvenirs. It’s a blast to spend a day walking through the streets, hunting for a treasure.

Nice vendors want to bargain with you, so let them have it! And yes, you might just overload on all the tchotchkes!

Haggling with merchants is definitely accepted in the market (offer half of their original price,) and there is wide range of jewelry, antiquities, and leather products available. Check out the video below for a look at some of the more interesting products for sale, and a couple tips for shopping around the market.

Who knew "Game of Thrones" was so huge in the Holy Land?
