We're excited to be bringing you a new weekly video blog that focuses on the world of out gay musicians. The aptly-titled Homophonic series, brought to you by the Angry Puppy vlog's Lee and his Archy and Mehitabel bandmate Alex, will take you behind the scenes and into the recording studios of some of the freshest queer musicians out there. I'll let Lee tell you what's in store for the maiden voyage...
How awesome is this?! Fresh from her first live show in over 3 years,
LGBT music goddess Deepa Soul sat down with Alex in our studio last
week and dished deep. From her not-so-humble beginnings dancing go-go
in San Fran to her epic collaborations with Junior Vasquez, Deepa kept
our jaws hanging open with one legendary tale after another.

Although John and I haven't been feeling recent Whitney-free episodes of The Hills, after Monday's edition - chock full of fake work, blatant voiceovers and total brilliance on Lo's part - we're officially declaring, The Hills is back!
-- Sarah Warn from AfterEllen.com

This episode of SMMWT! is all about women in sports movies! The ones we like, anyway...
Not included? The recent soccer movie Gracie (kinda disappointing), Million Dollar Baby (too depressing), and lots of ice skating movies (whole 'nother genre). Plus probably whatever movie is your favorite, which I'm sure you'll let us know in the comments.
You'll also learn how Lori met one of her tennis idols, why you'll never catch her on a surf board, and what movie the Chariots of Fire theme song makes me think of (hint: Wally World!).

Here he cooomes, Mr. Broadwaaay... Well, that's what we'd like to call this week's guest on Suck It Up & Dance, but we might get sued! Nevermind ... Suck It Up this week is all about pageants and glitter - and dancing like men - so prepare yourselves. And yes, we have an amazing guest: the winner of the second-annual Broadway Beauty Pageant Marty Thomas!
Marty entered as Mr. Xanadu and roller-skated out of there with the title - and with that tiara! We chatted about Xanadu's origins, roller-skating injuries and his childhood owning of one Britney Spears on Ed McMahon's Junior Star Search. And, of course, we recapped the most recent Damn Yankees-themed episode of Step It Up & Dance.
We're not done yet! NewNowNext has an exclusive interview with recently-eliminated Oscar. Read the Q&A after the jump!

The Heidi Chronicles this week is all about MTV-sponsored move-ins, romantic re-connections with boys who never liked you - and Jon's amazing pitch for his own Hills gay spin-off.

I have to love anyone whose sings "I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf" - and once Katy Perry stopped in the LOGO offices for an interview, I loved her even more!
The Cali singer, whose debut album One of The Boys comes out June 17, talked with NewNowNext about her "Ur So Gay" single (watch the video below), getting a shout out from Madonna and why (real) gay boys love her.
And watch the video interview with Katy after the jump!

Gearing up for the summer action movies, Lori and I list our favorite female action heroes of all time, from Bridget Fonda in Point of No Return (1993) to Halle Berry in Die Another Day (2002) to Michelle Yeoh in three movies, including the upcoming Mummy one.
Along the way, we lament the lack of non-martial arts roles for Asian American actresses, debate whether Harry Potter's Hermione can properly be considered an "action hero," and argue over the value of women in Bond movies.

Andrew Lloyd Webber
was on hand last week as American Idol guest mentor and Jim
& Penny dish the dirt on all the performances – from the highs (Syesha’s sultry number) to the lows (Brooke’s stop and start disaster). Along the way they discuss Lloyd Webber’s
uncanny resemblance to Austin Powers,
and Penny breaks out her spot on impression of a heavily medicated Laura Bush. Oh yeah, they also open up the reader mail
bag, and Jim answers questions about how American
Idol contestants select (and pay for) their clothes.
Check out their video blog after the break!

For this week's Heidi Chronicles, Jon and Colin can't lie - they're just not feelin' it! So we count down the reasons why Monday's Whitney-less episode plain pissed us off.
I didn't know too much about Mraz-y a few weeks ago beyond his 2002 single "The Remedy"– which I didn't care for – but how can I not like the new song for his We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things album, due May 13? I'm also liking that Jason Mraz totally loves gays and even hooked up with a dude in college. (I know, that's kind of common ... but he actually talks about it!)
And check out Jason's interview with NewNowNext here ... I have a major crush on him. He kind of looks like he smells bad, but he doesn't.

Mariah Carey was on board this past week as guest mentor, and the male contestants seemed to have a better time of it than the women. Jim Verraros & Penny Frulla dish the dirt on the best (and worst) performances, open up the reader mail bag, and offer up some sound advice for Britney Spears!

What do Will Smith, Meryl Streep, Gillian Anderson, Steve Carrell, Cate Blanchett, and the young girl from Akele and the Bee have in common? They're all starring in movies we want to see this summer. (Archeology! Singing! Football! Not all in the same movie, fortunately.)
In this episode of SMMWT!, Lori and I discuss which movies coming out this summer we really want to see — and which ones we definitely don't. (One word: Baghead. Yes, that's right, it's a movie about a guy wearing a paper bag over his head. 'Nuff said.)

John & Colin are totally Team Pink Stink - or something! - and they're ready to battle it out! So watch this week's Step It Up & Dance recap vlog: It's loaded with special guests and even more ridiculous "dancing" on our parts.
And Part 2 is after the jump. We've got special guest Tommy Berklund, who's currently starring in Broadway's A Chorus Line, to teach us some moves. See? We do have people who know what they're talking about on this vlog. And! NewNowNext has an exclusive interview with recently-eliminated Jessica. Don't miss....

In case you missed our Step & It Up recap vlog, you can still catch John Polly chatting up Mario Lopez, the newest member of Broadways's A Chorus Line, right here!
We snagged him at rehearsal to talk about that Nip/Tuck ass shot, being an object of gay lust worldwide, Liz Berkley and Showgirls ... and Miss Teen South Carolina! Oh ... and about A Chorus Line too. We've even got Mario dancing onstage!
And you'll get to hear Mario's bedroom-sexy whisper. ...Or maybe that's just what I heard.
The name - and that picture - says it all: far too much Heidi! But we still have a The Hills recap for ya ... get ready for Lauren's "scum"-throwing and lesbian vibes from Alicia Keys' latest Fresh Takes advertorial.
We really crammed it in this time! First off, John and Colin recap Episode 2 of Bravo's Step It Up & Dance - we're a little upset about that elimination - then Colin plays segments from his interview with the lovely, and booted-off, gay, James.
And then! John runs over to A Chorus Line rehearsals to interview newly-cast Mario Lopez ... and Mario touches him!
It's a Saved by the Bell reunion! ... kind of.

This week marked the season finale of The L Word. And for such a grand occasion, we thought it fitting to invite our own posse of troublemakers to join us for our vlog. You can call them our "friends" if you like, but I prefer to think of them as "repeat offenders." (Or maybe both terms are correct.)
Accompanying us on the enchanted sofa this week are actresses Meredith Scott Lynn and Coley
Sohn, and comedians Liz Feldman and Bridget McManus. We also had an unexpected visitor, a lovely girl whose car broke down in front of Jill's house. I don't think she knew what she was walking into when she asked to use the phone.

As promised, Lori and I are finally back on the interweb with a new episode of She Made Me Watch This!
This week, we talk about that ridiculous lesbian kiss in the Lipstick Jungle season finale; the new Judy Greer comedy Miss Guided; Marlee Matlin and Kristi Yamaguchi on Dancing with the Stars; the status of the queer women currently on Survivor and Top Chef; and the tragedy that was Marvita's haircut on America's Next Top Model (A mullet, Tyra? Really?)

Thanks, Steve Jobs! Since Apple played her "New Soul" track for its MacBook Air commercials, the French-Israeli musician became an iTunes best-seller and made Number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. We didn't get to see her, though - as we did with Feist for the iPod Nano - so check out the official music video for "New Soul," in which Yael Naim semi-enters old paintings she hangs up in her empty apartment.
She's a little delicate and folk-y for my tastes, but it's hard not to like her. This track is from her self-titled album, which is actually her sophomore effort; her debut was called In a Man's Womb. Nice title!

It's the beginning of The End. The end of Season 5 of The L Word, that is. And in this second-to-last episode, a lot of groundwork is laid to get us prepped for what is sure to be the shocking conclusion of the fifth season next week on Showtime.
Luckily, groundwork isn't the only thing getting laid in this episode. Bette and Jodi are splitsville, but that doesn't stop them from getting physical, and Jenny and Niki's breathtaking tryst from last week is relived in high-def when their pilfered home video resurfaces once again.
Those are just a few of the topics we discuss this week on WGN, along with pressing issues such as gun safety, pay rates for actors with speaking roles on television shows, and whether or not telling a woman "I really hope you bleed soon" is (1) honest; (2) grounds for divorce; or (3) simply an invitation for a satisfying slap of the face.
