Grab your feathers because Violet Chachki is about to serve you full burlesque fantasy—in your living room!
The RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 winner has announced a new event, Digital Follies, bringing her signature combination of drag, burlesque, circus, and some sickening fashion online.
“What better way to cure the isolation blues than with a lavishly-produced theatrical revue featuring over-the-top costumes and opulent scenery,” asked Violet in the show’s announcement. “Drag has always adapted to what is happening in the world and lifted people’s spirits and this pandemic is no exception. The show is also a very special way for me to celebrate my birthday with everyone that has supported me over the years.”
“This year has been a complete roller coaster,” Violet continued. “It started with fashion weeks, touring the USA with Werq the World and Europe with my solo show, and the next thing I knew I was self-isolating in quarantine. On the bright side, it has given me time to rest and finally get a kitty!”
Violet has kept busy since snatching the Drag Race crown in 2015. As NewNowNext previously reported, Violet released her debut EP, Gagged, that same year, and in 2018 she dropped a song and video called “A Lot More Me.”
Violet, who identifies as genderqueer, made herstory in 2017 as the first drag queen to land a major women’s lingerie campaign. The Alan Turing LGBTIQ Award winner has also released Dirty Violet, a genderless fragrance.
She was scheduled to her debut her first North American solo tour, A Lot More Me, earlier this year, but the tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Violet Chachki’s Digital Follies premieres Thursday, July 30 at 3pm EST/12pm PDT. Head over to Voss Events for tickets and more info.
