Following in the footsteps of the MTV Movie & TV Awards, the Video Music Awards ditched the former Best Female Video and Best Male Video categories and have combined them to form Artist of the Year.

The nominations for the 2017 VMAs were announced this week with Kendrick Lamar leading the field with eight nods. Katy Perry and The Weeknd were the next most recognized with each artist scoring five nominations.

Miley Cyrus, who came out as pansexual last year, is nominated for "Malibu," along with out rapper Young M.A. who got a nod for Best New Artist.

Last year's VMAs was all about Beyoncé's Lemonade, so it will be interesting to see who takes home the Moonman this year while Queen Bey is out of the spotlight. Scroll through below to see a complete list of nominees and head on over to the VMA site now to cast your vote.
