"Voltron: Legendary Defender" Season 7 Will Feature Queer Character Reveal

Let's go, Voltron Force!

This year's San Diego Comic-Con revealed surprising information about our favorite television shows and films. For fans of the Netflix series Voltron: Legendary Defender, this is especially true—the show's upcoming Season 7 was confirmed to reveal that one of the main characters is, in fact, queer.

The panel for the show confirmed that Voltron: Legendary Defender will be ending after Season 8. The seventh season, returning August 10, will feature 13 new episodes chronicling the superhero Paladins who come together to make the evil-fighting robot Voltron.

The new season will focus on the Defenders’ return to Earth in search of blueprints to rebuild the Castle of Lions, which was destroyed in the sixth season. In addition, Season 7 will shed light on the backstories of several characters. With that, as showrunner Lauren Montgomery told attendees during the panel, viewers will have confirmation of Shiro—one of the show's main characters and a Voltron Paladin—is queer, even giving us a flashback with his ex-boyfriend, Adam.

Season 8's release date has yet to be confirmed. Season 7 will be available on Netflix on August 10.
