Below are the locales nominated for Best Global Destination in the 2009 TripOut Gay Travel Awards... Check 'em out!

November 10, 2010 - UPDATE: Congratulations to New York City for winning the 2010 award for Best Global Destination. Start spreading the news...

Berlin

It’s grand—and gritty. It’s arty and anarchic. Berlin is an always evolving and fabulous blend of old and new, established and emerging, rowdy and riche. A mad mix of neighborhoods and gay scenes that never cease to amaze, Germany’s gem is an ever-evolving enchantress. Come to the cabaret, kids!

Buenos Aires

No one's crying for Argentina these days. Unless they've visited BA and haven't been back. This sexy South American gem is a perfect getaway destination. The late-night dinners, the gorgeous and welcoming natives, the European flair stirred with below-the-equator heat and style. And they just legalized gay marriage this past year! Bravo!

London

It's jolly. It's merry. It's classic and it's always on the cutting-edge. London is a riveting haven of culture, Ab Fab, history and bangers (and mash!). Swoon to its romance, its cheeky style, its cinematic mystery (a la Agatha Christie or James Bond), and then dance yourself silly. London still swings!

Madrid

The Spanish may not have invented sexy, but they surely have perfected it. And Spain’s capital city has also perfected its role as a foxy, flashy and fun gay hotspot with nightlife that’s buzzworthy, culture that’s mind-blowing and locals who are the perfect combo of stylish, sexy and cool.

Montreal

Yes, Montreal is in Canada. But it's more distinctively in Quebec, that romantic melange of European style and North American sensibility. And the city's gay scene is an edgy, arty playground. Go to a warehouse party, a world-class museum, a divine bistro... Or just stroll and let the Quebecois seduce you. But careful: They're good at it!

New York City

The Big Apple snatched the trophy for Best U.S. Destination in 2009, but we all know it’s one of the hottest tickets on the planet when it comes to vacation time. The city that never sleeps is still a beacon to adventurous travelers—and gays—from around the entire planet. Blame Jay-Z if you must, but we’re all in an Empire State of Mind these days.

So, which international hotspot are you feeling?

We asked the nominees if they'd like to respond to their nomination, or tell you more about themselves. Here's what we've heard so far!

From Martine Ainsworth-Wells, Marketing and Communications Director, Visit London:

“We are extremely honoured to be nominated as Best Global Destination for LGBT travelers. London has always been a welcoming city, offering a huge variety of choices from nightlife to museums, great restaurants and bars and amazing shopping and fashion. We hope fans of the capital will vote for London in this year’s prestigious TripOut Gay Travel awards.”
