Wacky Idaho Gubernatorial Candidate Harley Brown Supports Gays, Marriage Equality

This week's Idaho gubernatorial debate has gone viral, thanks to some rather colorful fringe candidates. But don't assume that because Harley Brown is a Republican and barks at his opponents that he's a foe of LGBT rights: The veteran cab driver is a strong supporter of marriage equality.

Discussing the recent court decision striking down Idaho's ban on gay marriage Brown, 60, said:

I've picked up my fair share of the gay community [as a cab driver in Boise] and they have true love for one another. I'm telling you, they love each other more than I love my motorcycle.  You know, they're just as American as a Medal of Honor winner...I'm glad that judge made that decision.

Brown admits his view don't align with his party's platform, saying "I know I'm not really talking like a Republican." His opponents—including incumbent Butch Otter, Senate Majority Caucus Chairman Russ Fulcher and "curmudgeon" Walt Bayes—have taken a hard line against LGBT rights.
