Ms. Perry is gonna let her light shine. And explode out of her torso. Meanwhile, gay guys get smoochy amid the sparkles… Awwww.
It looks like Katy Perry is delivering a message of empowerment and self-worth to teens everywhere with her latest single and video for “Firework.” And as the gays over at WorldOfWonder.net mentioned, it sort of hits a similar vibe as Xtina’s classic “Beautiful” tune and video. But this one’s got a fiercely anthemic, thumping, jump-up-and-down dance party vibe going.
In addition to seeing pyrotechnics shooting out of Katy’s midsection (First whipped cream, now this!), we see a kid with cancer, a chubby shy girl, a teen magician (???) and a gay boy find some kind of message and the gumption to be themselves in this one.
Full admission: I love this. In fact, I’m going to totally admit that I’ve been digging all the songs I’ve heard thus far from Teenage Dream. It’s crazy-addictive upbeat pop. How can you resist???
Expect to hear this song 5,000 times at every Halloween party you go to this weekend. Whooooo!
