Ellen DeGeneres’ interview with Kevin Hart is coming out ahead of schedule—today.
The segment was originally scheduled to air on Monday, but DeGeneres took to social media to say she’d made the decision to air it as soon as possible, so their hour-long chat got bumped up to Friday instead.
“I called the Academy today,” DeGeneres tells Hart. “I really want you to host the Oscars.”
DeGeneres goes on to praise Hart in his upcoming role in The Upside and his acting abilities.
Hart tells the host the controversy around his previous tweets were an attack on his career.

“This was to destroy me…to end all partnerships…and relationships. This was to damage the lives of people invested in me,” says Hart. “Someone has to take a stand against the trolls.”
“They are going to win if you don’t host the Oscars,” says DeGeneres.
“I don’t want to step on that stage and make that night about me and my past when you have people that have worked hard and are about to step on the stage for the first time and receive an award,” says Hart. “I’m now taking away from all those moments.”
The full interview airs today at 3pm on the east coast.
