Only Mark Ronson (of the ever fabulous Ronson clan) could make a classic French Canadian nursery rhyme sound so good. (Or pull off a bright yellow suit so well!) Yes, that’s lines from Alouette that electronica songstress MNDR is singing. Who knew a song about plucking feathers could be so effing catchy?!
Basically, “Bang Bang Bang” the first single off of Ronson’s yet to be released album Record Collection is completely amazing – from Q-tip’s infectious rhymes (and adorable vintage suit & glasses) to MNDR‘s delightful bang-bang-bangs I can’t get enough! And can we talk about her dancing for a second? The pointing? The finger-guns? I am in love!
Clearly a song like this would need an epic video to match, which is exactly what Ronson gives us. It’s like Tron meets Transformers meets one of those hard to understand but endlessly entertaining Japanese TV shows. The album doesn’t drop until September (gasp!) but for now you can be sure that I’ll be playing this song on repeat…and searching for my own romper to match MNDR’s!
