Rocketman, the movie about Sir Elton John—or the “epic musical fantasy” as the studio refers to it—is set to land in theaters next summer. And going by the just released trailer, it looks like moviegoers will be in for an epic ride indeed.
Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) told Collider earlier this year the movie won’t be a traditional biographic piece.
“Everyone thinks it’s a bio-pic. It isn’t,” he said. “It’s a fantasy musical, so it’s actually [John’s] songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments.”
The multitalented Egerton did his own singing for the film, which also stars Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World).
Rocketman is set to hit cinemas in May 2019.
