We Can Be Heroes: Legends Of New Wave Music Reimagined As The Super Friends

If there's any two things we love here at NewNowNext, it's awesome music and men in tights. So when Brazilian artist Butcher Billy re-imagined New Wave icons as comic-book superheroes, we just swooned. The man is a pop-culture mash-up genius, responsible for rock-star Pomeranians and a Disney version of Taxi Driver, but "The Post-Punk/New Wave Super Friends" is our absolute fave.

I mean, how could you not love Morrissey as Superman and Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh as The Flash?

"As a child of the 80’s I was heavily influenced by everything from Saturday-morning cartoons on TV to the music coming from the radio," Billy reveals. "Ian Curtis and Johnny Rotten are as iconic to me as Superman or Batman. Real people or imaginary characters, the incorruptible ideals of perfect superheroes or the human flaws and desires sometimes so desperately depicted in song lyrics, all of those influences affect us to the point of defining our character and personality, career paths and life choices."

Um, yeah, what he said.
