We Stunt-Cast Fox's Upcoming TV Musical Version Of "Grease"
If you thought High School Musical was like a modern-day Grease, you'll be happy to know Fox has green-lighted a new prime-time production of Grease starring HSM's Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo.
Hudgens will be joined by Dancing with the Stars' Julianne Hough as lovelorn Sandy. (No word on whether Zac Efron will play Danny, but wouldn't that be quiche?)
“Grease is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy,” declared Hough, clearly already in character as the perennially perky teen.
Hudgens, however, admits the role came out of left field for her. “Playing Rizzo is something I’ve never imagined, and I love that because it will be a new challenge,” she said. “I cannot wait to bring her to life in live television. I am going to be a pink lady!”
TV musicals have been a hit-or-miss proposition since Sound of Music debuted on NBC with Carrie Underwood. We think Fox could bank on a success if they turned to the Drag Race queens instead.
