We Want A “9 To 5” Reunion On “Grace And Frankie”—And So Does Dolly Parton

But why are the producers so hesitant to have the ladies reunited?

From the second we fell back in love with seeing Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin together on their Netflix series Grace and Frankie, we prayed it would only be a matter of time before their other 9 to 5 co-star, Dolly Parton, joined them on the hit show.

And after her interview at the Television Critics Association, it turns out Parton wants the same thing. Well, as soon as she figured out what the show was.

“Who’s Grace and Frankie?” the country legend asked to a roomful of laughter. “Oh, you should of said ’Jane and Lily.'”

Parton hasn’t seen the series, and wasn’t even sure if it was still on the air, but made it clear she’d love to be reunited with her old friends.

“I told them whenever I get a little block of time, I’d love to come be on the show,” she said. “We always talked about a [9 to 5] reunion.”

Don’t get too excited for that reunion yet, though.

Executive producer Marta Kauffman told The Associated Press that she is hesitant to have Parton join Tomlin and Fonda on the show.

“Here’s the thing. Until the show is established as a world of its own, when you bring Dolly Parton into it, who I love by the way. I love her, I love everything about her. When you bring her in what it takes you to is, ‘Oh, it’s a 9 to 5 reunion.’ We haven’t established Grace and Frankie yet as individuals so you can enjoy that without it taking you out of the show so that’s why I’m hesitant.”

Maybe now that we have one season of getting to know the characters already under our belts, Kauffman will change her mind.

We’re ready for you Dolly!
