Wedding Expert: I need to plan a wedding in three months!

My girlfriend and I have been together for a year and she's having our first kid. I've asked her to marry me a few months ago. A lot has changed with my job and going to school, but she still wants to get married within THREE MONTHS! So my question is, where can I make this happen and how can I go about planning this? I have no idea and it's all in my hands.

Greetings Jessie!

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate with your new work situation, school, being a soon-to-be parent and now, a wedding planner. The big day may seem like a daunting task, but your first priority should be preparing for the little bundle of joy that is going to hit your doorstep in the coming months.

As it seems that you probably don't have a lot of time to spare, I would keep the wedding as simple as possible. Also with a baby on the way, I'd imagine you may not have a huge budget for a wedding either. Simple can be inexpensive, but it can also be elegant.

Nature is the best decoration and thankfully, not so expensive. You could try an outdoor park, like River Legacy in Arlington, for example. Rates for a simple wedding start at $250 and go to $500. You both can dress in simple, flowing, breathable fabric and you will look stunning with the foliage as a backdrop.

You are looking at July or August wedding and I'm sure a lot of spaces are booking up fast. If nothing is available because other  brides booked way in advance, my recommendation is to use a shaded back yard of your own or borrow one from your family or friends. A mild-tempered Texan morning wedding with a simple brunch reception would be lovely for the summer.

Another suggestion is to have a romantic getaway for just the two of you before the baby is born. Along the trip, the two of you can then elope. Spend the money you would allot for the wedding and put it towards travel and accommodations at a nice hotel. Make it even more romantic as a surprise for your future wife. Plan a fun dinner party for your friends and family around your return as a wedded couple to celebrate.

Make sure you are having fun with your choices for your nuptials. It doesn't have to be scary, expensive or traditional in any way. In all your decision making, keep in mind that you have an addition to your family coming soon, so don't go overboard!
