"Wedding Ringer" Star Kevin Hart: I Won't Play A Gay Character
Kevin Hart is riding high with the release of his new comedy, The Wedding Ringer. But the comedian probably won't be getting invites to many same-sex nuptials.
Speaking to Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Hart said, "I can't. Not because I have any ill will or disrespect. It's because I don't think I'm really going to dive into that role 100% because of insecurities about myself trying to play that part."
Hart also revealed he turned down a role in 2008's Tropic Thunder because it was too "flagrant."
"The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read," Hart explained. "It was real flagrant. I was like, 'I can't do this.'"
Don't be insulted, though. Hart was clear to say that, "as people, I love you."
Last year during a Reddit AMA, Hart said he doesn't do jokes about gay people anymore, saying "it’s just a sensitive topic and I respect people of all orientations. ".
