Glee may be off-air for the summer, but that doesn’t mean our favorite Gleeks are lying low. Every week I’ll be bringing you updates on what your favorite Glee stars are getting up to!
MasterChef Cooks for Glee
Putting Gordon Ramsey and Sue Sylvester in the same room might be a risky move, but the fabric of space and time remained when MasterChef contestants visited Glee set to cook for the cast and crew. Sue—we mean Jane Lynch—masterminded the teamsby separating the group into “Beauties” and “Beasts.” (Harsh, Jane. Really harsh.) The chefs cooked three different meals for the Gleeks. SPOILER: Jessie’s team’s fried chicken was the most popular choice—they couldn’t refill the trays fast enough.
Kurt Hummel Might Join A Rock Band?
At least that might be his next move, according to Chris Colfer. During a interview for his movie, Struck By Lightning, Colfer revealed the out graduate might veer away from musical theater in Season Five: “I know Kurt might join a band, and I know that I’ve thrown some ideas at them, so we’ll see if any of my ideas get selected.”
It’s a little early to know anything for sure, but rock and roll would be a whole new side of Hummel. Or maybe he’ll be a Jake Shears-type front man of a queer Scissor Sisters-like outfit. Or star in the Broadway revival of Hedwig. Will Glee tackle the NYC glam rock scene? And if fiancee Blaine moves to town, will he join the band, be the new Yoko Ono or be their biggest groupie? If Ryan Murphy was looking for a way to reinvigorate Glee for us fans, it’s a good angle.
Darren Criss Plays Prom For Hurricane Sandy Victims
In the middle of Darren Criss’ busy schedule— fronting his first solo tour and promoting Girl Most Likely—the Glee startook time to help some young victims of Hurricane Sandy this week: As part of Rent The Runway’s Dream Prom competition, Criss joined American Idol‘s Jordin Sparks and performed for 200 New York kids displaced for six months after the disaster. “It’s tragic that this had to happen, but it’s a wonderful situation of having to make lemonade from a boatload of lemons,” said Criss, who heads to to L.A. for an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl appearance on Saturday.
Grant Gustin Takes Serious Tumble On Bike
Grant Gustin, who plays wicked Warbler Sebastian Smythe, was biking to the gym the other when he took a serious spill—dislocating his elbow and fracturing his arm. (Seriously, though, he still looks sexy from his hospital bed.)
Gustin tweeted to his fans that the injuries looked worse than they were:
Thanks for the love and well wishes, friends. I’ll be ok.

But there are some complications:
Putting deodorant on your right arm pit with your right hand makes you look like a monkey. #noteasyeither

We officially offer to volunteer for that job.
Naya Rivera may play Sapphic Santana on Glee, but she hit the red carpet this week with rapper boyfriend Big Sean. At the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, where she was a presenter, 26-year-old Rivera donned a sheer jumpsuit and posed with the 25-year-old hip-hop star. “Ready…Set…PRIMP! #MMVA2013,” Naya tweeted.
Glee’s Top Singles in the UK Revealed
Glee’s been racking up more hits in the UK in the past three years than the Beatles and Elvis Presley managed in their time. In fact, a startling 100 of their songs have been Top 75 singles. Matthew Morrison was humble about the honor, telling was tells OfficialCharts.com. “[It’s] kind of crazy to think of… At the same time, we’re doing covers of songs. We’re kind of putting our own stamp on great Top 40 hits, whereas The Beatles and Elvis… That was their own music. What we do is different; I feel like there should be a little asterisk next to it! You can’t top Elvis and The Beatles, c’mon!”
But which track reigns supreme? The original breakout hit was, of course, the cast’s cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which reached Number 2 in December 2009.
Check out the full chart below to see the other highest-charting songs from the Gleeks. One shocker: “Teenage Dream” didn’t make the cut. It topped the US charts but I guess Britain’s not crazy for Blaine covering Katy Perry quite as much as we do. (In fact, all the Warbler numbers are MIA. Curious!)
