Mama Kelly returns. Sister Leona rocks a bikini as summer winds down. Lil Mama snatches a look worthy of early Gaga… The girls are busy, folks.
After last weekend’s hurricane washout, can we please have a real, long, actual holiday weekend please? Summer is ending, and I need 4 days of nothing but outdoorsy, breezy, sunny freshness to cope with this scenario.
And as always, I need some bouncy, breezy power pop to get me through it. Luckiliy there’s a new Kelly Clarkson joint that just dropped. I’m also not minding the slightly insipid, but kind of cheeziy perfect new Leona Lewis dancefloor ditty “Collide.” It’s brainless, but I think I need that right about now.
Another option… Lil Mama has stepped away from the judges’ table of America’s Best Dance Crew to whip up a new single “Scrawberry.” And there’s a video. It’s kind of a grind/groove/jam, and I’m not sure if it’s a hit or miss, but I’m willing to get the “Lip Gloss” lady a chance on this one.
But back to Kelly… Do you like? It’s always comforting hearing Miss Clarkson wrap her power vocals around a pop stomper, but whattya think? I wish the tune were a little dirtier/grungier… It’s little too tidy for my tastes, but I can never hate on Kelly. She’ll always be my best-girl-next-door.
And just for one more bit of pre-weekend cuiteness… Take a look at the video by hip-hop newbie (and strappingly cute dude ) David Dallas. The tune is “Take a Picture,” and it’s dandy, but it’s really all about the kitty cat.
