Viewers of the debut episode of The Flash last night got a sneak peek of the season ahead with a promo clip that included the arrival of Wentworth Miller as the villainous Captain Cold.

It’s Miller’s first major acting role since coming out as gay last year.

Screen Shot 2014-10-08 at 2.16.46 AMCold, a.k.a. Leonard Snart, will pop up in the fourth episode of the CW series, according to co-producer Geoff Johns. “He’s just this guy who pulls jobs very carefully and certainly there’s something in the city and he has to change his game up,” Johns told EW.

“[Snart] has to figure out how to deal with this new threat in Central City, to his way of life,” he added. It’s just all about him evolving, and with that, guns aren’t just going to do it, so he’s gotta have something a little stronger.”

But we won’t see Snart in full deep-freeze mode right away, says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “In the same way we talk about everybody, it’s the beginning, it’s Leonard Snart’s origins. He’s not the villain we see in the comics yet. We’re going to get there.”
