“Drag Race” Royalty “Werq the World” to Help Queens Impacted by COVID-19

The digital benefit will be hosted by Bianca Del Rio and Lady Bunny!

With pretty much every venue closed and every upcoming event canceled or postponed, the RuPaul's Drag Race girls know you can't walk into a club purse first right now. Instead, they're bringing their shows to your living room.

One of the most popular tours starring Drag Race queens, Werq the World, also had to cancel shows. But now Werq the World is comin' at you live—as a livestream benefit to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Werq the World livestream will be hosted by Bianca Del Rio in Los Angeles and Lady Bunny in New York. Aquaria, Asia O'Hara, Gigi Goode, Kameron Michaels, Kim Chi, Plastique Tiara, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, Violet Chachki, and Yvie Oddly are scheduled to perform.

According to the official press release, the livestream will mirror the production value of a typical Werq the World show, with numbers performed by queens in empty venues across the country.

"The entire entertainment and nightlife industry has taken a huge hit due to COVID-19. Countless people have lost their gigs do the very necessary precautions we all must take," said Drag Race Season 7 winner Violet Chachki. "The Werq the World livestream is not only giving us a chance to do what we love again, but also a chance to help out our community. I’m very excited to reach audiences new and old with my performance and provide a temporary distraction from these crazy times. Viewers can expect the same level of production value with all the bells and whistles as they would seeing a regular Violet Chachki stage show!"

How can you watch? Here are the full deets, kitty girl: "The special will air at 5pm PDT / 8pm EDT / 12am GMT on Saturday, April 4 and can be streamed worldwide from any device on the Voss Events website. "Right now everyone around the world is feeling the effects of a sudden uprooting of their daily lives. This show is so important to me because it’s benefiting people who have no means of making income right now, and more importantly, I believe it’s going to bring so much joy to people who are in desperate need of having their days brightened," added Drag Race Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly. "Plus, it’s a gathering of some of the biggest and best queens across America for the purpose of expressing solidarity in our solitude, so it’s truly unprecedented."

We know right now is a difficult time, but you can always count on drag queens to be there to help you through.
