West End Bares, London’s version of the annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS fundraiser Broadway Bares, celebrated its eighth year on Sunday night with the Wizard of Oz-themed event “Ruby Strippers.”
Over 100 performers from the West End stage dressed up as characters from the movie before taking it all off to raise money for the Make A Difference Trust, which provides HIV and AIDS care, education and support in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The burlesque event broke last year’s fundraising records by collecting well over $66,000, although the final amount raised has not yet been announced.
Check out the lions and tigers and bares (oh my!) with some of the hottest pics from “Ruby Strippers” below.
West End Bares has come and gone for yet another year. As always, it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of an event that helps to raise money for such an important cause. Thank you to @dazzleofthedust and @grewers for giving @fdobinson and I the opportunity to co-choreograph once again. Thank you also to our wonderful cast for their commitment, hard work and patience, all of which didn’t go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated. TEAM GLINDA, WE SMASHED IT! @madtrust @westendbares #MADTrust #WestEndBares #RubyStrippers
Well that was certainly a "different" take on the Wizard of Oz! 🤣👠🙊🙈 Amazing night on the #FROW at #westendbares in support of the @madtrust #makeadifferencetrust and the brilliant work they do for those living with, or affected by, #HIV in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa. @aaronrenfree served me all the choreography goals, @chris.warner.drake (I'm saying nothing matey other than blue is definitely your colour! 💙🤣👏🏽), the ridiculous @callum_aylott generally stole the show with all his RedHot100'ness, and shout out to my fellow LGBT Switchboard charity teamies Ian and Mark who MC'd brilliantly alongside the always hilarious @gnfcofficial_ ! All in all, a super night for a super cause! 🌈🍾🥂 #AboutLastNight #WhilstYouWereSleeping 🎭
