What Do Homophobes Know About Sex?

Given what anti-gay activists say gay people get up to in bed, it shouldn't be surprising how limited their grasp is on human sexuality.

The upcoming documentary The World According to Homophobes aims to illustrate how religion and inadequate sex education foster a culture of shame and homophobia.

"[My goal] is to educate people around the world by allowing them to see how their homophobic culture was created and just how dangerous it can be," says director Emmanuelle Schick Garcia, who will spotlight the gender roles, superstitions and sexual experiences of homophobic cultures in four countries. (In Colombia, for example, students can be expelled for displaying "homosexual behavior.")

The effects of this enforced ignorance are multifarious—from paramilitary rape gangs attempting to "correct" lesbians to citizen groups who block gay couples from entering City Hall on their wedding day.

Producers of the doc have launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $19,950 to cover travel and production costs. Learn about The World According to Homophobes in the clip below
