18 Things We Need To See In The "Will & Grace" Revival

No children.

Next week the Will & Grace revival finally premieres on NBC—but the world has has changed a lot in the 11 years since the show left the air.

Scroll through below to see our wish list of things we want to see when Will, Jack, Karen and Grace return to our TV screens for the new season.

Less Leo and Vince.

We know that Harry Connick Jr. and Bobby Cannavale are reprising their roles as Will and Grace's partners. But is it only for a quick cameo or maybe even a flashback? We love Connick and Cannavale, but we think Will and Grace are at their best when they aren't tied down.

Jack the social-media influencer.

NBC

If you watched one of the previews for the new season, you know Jack is already on Grindr. But his hunger for attention wouldn't stop with just a "woof" on Scruff—why not make him an Instagram influencer or the star of his own YouTube channel? He would obviously make Will's apartment his studio and have Grace design the set, leading to a disastrous first (and last) video.

Jack as a grandfather.

Jack's son, Elliott (Michael Angarano), is returning for the revival, and now that he is 29, Elliott is old enough to be a father. Can you imagine him arriving in Will's apartment with a baby in his arms? Then Jack would be a grandaddy looking for daddies.

No kids.

Yes we want to see Jack as a grandfather, but let's keep his grandkids offscreen. And since producers are ignoring the series finale, hopefully they'll ignore Will and Grace's children, too—or ship them off to boarding school.

Extra-special guest stars.

Michelle Obama might not be making an appearance in the new season, but other celebrities like Andrew Rannells, Jane Lynch and Minnie Driver are. Hopefully that's just the beginning of the celebrity cameos.

But fewer of them.

Having a celebrity guest on the show is fun, but the endless parade of A-listers grew tiresome. (Remember Jack auditioning to be one of Janet Jackson's backup dancers?). A few big names have already been announced, but hopefully most episodes will let our fab foursome shine on their own.

A more diverse supporting cast.

Like a lot of TV shows in the '90s, Will & Grace, was pretty white. Will did have a romance with Taye Diggs in Season 8, but that was the exception that proved the rule. With Shelley Morrison not returning as Rosario, Will & Grace needs to do more to reflect the diverse world we live in.

Trans representation.

Speaking of diversity, the trans community has really come into its own since Will & Grace went off the air. Maybe Laverne Cox could play Karen's rival?

More politics.

The idea of a Will & Grace revival sprang from the 10-minute election video the cast did last year. So it would only be fitting if the new season was political, too. In the new season, Karen is reportedly best friends with Donald and Melania, so what if Grace marched in the Women's March or Jack turned out to be a Bernie Bro?

Return of Rosario.

Shelley Morrison is not returning to the show due to poor health. But hopefully Max Mutchnick and David Kohan can sway her to make a quick cameo before the season's end.

A new exercise fad.

We'd love to see Jack and Grace try out a new exercise regimen like CrossFit or Soul Cycle—and inevitably get kicked out, of course. #StakeIt.

A family reunion.

Sydney Pollack, who played Will's dad, and Debbie Reynolds, who played Grace's mother, have both passed away since the original series ended. But we'd love to see Blythe Danner return as Will's WASPy martini-fueled mother. Bonus points if we get John Slattery as Will's brother (who seduced Grace) and Veronica Cartwright as Jack's mom Judith (who couldn't believe her son was gay).

Another slap from Cher.

Cher is back on TV in a Gap commercial and the animated series Home: Adventures With Tip & Oh. So we're confident the icon can make time for one more dream-sequence assault on Jack.

Jack auditions for RuPaul's Drag Race.

Drag is more popular than ever thanks to Drag Race. Jack would definitely want to get in on the action, and would probably create a drag persona just to audition for the show. Like his acting career, we doubt it would take off.

Karen auditions for RuPaul's Drag Race.

Jack wouldn't make it onto the show, but we could definitely see Karen pretending to be a drag queen—and probably winning the competition. Plus, she already has a drag name: Anastasia Beaverhausen.

Acknowledge that the characters have gotten older.

It's been almost 20 years since the show debuted and now three of the foursome are in their 50s (Sean Hayes is 47), so the revival shouldn't shy away from the fact that they have all gotten older. This seems like the perfect opportunity for Jack to make even more jokes about how Will and is old and only.

Holigays are here again.

Will & Grace's Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes are some of the show's best. Here's hoping the gang will spend the holidays together again this year. How about Arbor Day or the Fourth of July?

More onscreen action.

America was still getting used to same-sex kisses in the early 2000s, but with shows like How to Get Away With Murder and Teen Wolf bringing hot gay action to prime time, we better see more than a chaste peck for Will.

Will & Grace returns September 28 at 9/8c on NBC.
