Whitney Museum Explores The AIDS Crisis With "I, You, We"
Robert Mapplethorpe, Ken Moody and Robert Sherman
The Whitney Museum has dug into its permanent collection for one of their best exhibitions of late, "I, You, We." Featuring the works of artists like Jenny Holzer, Basquiat, Robert Maplethorpe and Cindy Sherman, the exhibit explores how social, personal and collective issues impact the artists' work.
Most heartwrenching is the portion of the show addressing the AIDS crisis, with works by Mapplethorpe, David Wojnarowicz, and Nicholas Nixon, who photographed patients toward the end of their lives.
"I, You, We." runs through September 1.
David Wojnarowicz, Untitled (One day this kid . . .),
Nicholas Nixon, "Catherine and Tom Moran, East Braintree, Massachusetts"
