Who Will Star In Broadway's "Hello Dolly" Next?

It takes a woman. But which?

Bernadette Peters is garnering praise in Hello, Dolly, following in the footsteps of Bette Midler. But who will step into the role after Peters hangs up her corset?

Would you believe Whoopi Goldberg as turn-of-the-century matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi?

“I could see maybe taking over as Dolly at some point, something like that,” Goldberg told amNY last month. “It would have to be something far from me—something I could hide behind.”

Even if she doesn't have the musical resumé, Goldberg certainly has the name recognition to fill seats. And she's appeared on Broadway before, including the 1997 revival of A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Forum and a 2003 revival of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

If you want a more traditional Dolly, though, Betty Buckley will star in the touring show, which starts in October at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, before moving onto Palm Beach, Los Angeles, San Francisco, among other stops.

Of course there's still no official announcement on who—if anyone—will succeed Peters on Broadway. We've compiled a few suggestions, but who's your pick?
