Why Did Apple Remove A Lesbian Couple From The International Version Of Its Mother's Day Ad?

Seriously, Apple?

Apple CEO Tim Cook may be an openly gay man, but the company is being accused of censoring a lesbian couple from the international edition of a recent Mother's Day ad.

On May 1, Apple posted a video on YouTube featuring mothers and their children. Among the families who submitted iPhone photos were Melanie and Vanessa Roy, who appear in the spot with their two babies. (They also appear in the Mexican, Canadian and Australian versions of the clip.)

But the picture of the Roys is missing from the edition of the video posted in French, German, Italian, Turkish and Japanese.

In its place is an image of Vanessa alone with one of her children.

Buzzfeed noticed the discrepancies and has asked Apple to respond.

Sadly, this is not a unique situation: LGBT people have been removed from foreign versions of ads from Toyota, Coca-Cola and Ikea.
