Michelle Obama might be the latest big name added to the list of guest stars for the upcoming Will & Grace revival.
In Touch Weekly is reporting that the former first lady will appear on an episode of the new season. “The details are still being worked out, but supposedly Michelle is up for anything, as long as it doesn’t cross the line too much,” an insider told the magazine.
The source adds that Obama “will not be taking any personal jabs at Donald Trump. The writers will leave that to the rest of the cast.”
Aside from Obama, Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt and Harry Connick Jr. will also be making an appearance on the new season.
“Everyone associated with the show is so excited about landing Michelle,” the insider added. “They think the episode will be comedy gold and a ratings hit.”
One person that will not be appearing in the revival is Shelley Morrison, who played Karen’s maid, Rosario, for the entire run of the original series.
“Shelley has decided to retire. It was with a heavy heart that she gave us that information and that we received it, but it is the way that it goes. It is a choice that she has made,” said co-creator Max Mutchnick.
“We really wanted Shelley to be a part of this series, so we find ourselves having to figure that out moving forward. It was not an easy decision to make, but it’s one that she made.”
Morrison made a brief cameo in the Will & Grace election video the cast starred in last year.
Rosario, you will be missed. In honor of our favorite sharp-tongued maid, watch a classic fight between Karen and Rosario below.
UPDATE: A NBC spokesperson reached out to NewNowNext and confirmed that Obama’s guest role is just wishful thinking. “This is a rumor and there are no plans to have her on the show at this time,” the NBC source said. Maybe there’s hope she will appear on Season 10?
