The "Will & Grace" Revival Will Pretend That Series Finale Never Happened

Plus, see pics from the cast's first day back on set.

The return of Will & Grace seemed like a dream too good to be true, but now that dream is a reality since the series started production again this week.

The cast are the latest cover stars of Entertainment Weekly, and production on the revial began yesterday with an extravagant ribbon-cutting ceremony where the cast spoke about returning to play their characters all these years later.

"I was just saying to my wife, 'I wonder what it will be like to kiss a man again,'" Eric McCormack told the crowd who gathered for the ribbon-cutting. His co-star Sean Hayes, who was standing next to him, took the cue to plant a kiss on McCormack's lips as the crowd cheered.

"It's just like riding a bike," McCormack said.

Aside from updates from the set, the series' co-creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan finally revealed how they are going to retcon that sad series finale that showed Will and Grace drifting apart over the years—only to be reunited when their kids meet in college.

"When the decision was made to bring the series back, we were like, well, we left them with kids, right? And if they have children, then it has to be about them being parents, ‘cause presumably it would be a priority in their lives," Kohan explained to Entertainment Weekly. "And if it wasn't a priority in their lives, then they're still parents, they're just bad parents, right? We frankly did not want to see them being either good parents or bad parents. We wanted them to be Will and Grace."

So, Will & Grace fans, you can rest easy because the new season will not be filled with plots about parenting or crumbling marriages, just the four friends still trying to navigate life in the big city.

"I want to make other people laugh right now," said Messing, who was an active and vocal Hillary Clinton supporter during the 2016 election. "That's the reason I wanted to come back, because I was like, 'I really need to laugh.'"
