Watch The "Today" Show Go Behind The Scenes Of "Will & Grace"

Natalie Morales sat down with the cast on the set of the series revival.

The return of Will & Grace is quickly approaching, and now that the actors and crew are back at work on the sitcom, the Today show sat down to catch up with the cast on the show's set.

Natalie Morales spoke with Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes about revisiting their characters 11 years after the original series finale.

"When we came to work, we were like children in a kindergarten class that got along, and that just came back instantly," McCormack said during the Today show segment.

"It just feels like we took a tiny hiatus," added Hayes.

During the interview McCormack and Messing revealed that both Will and Grace are divorcées, after splitting from Vince (Bobby Cavanale) and Leo (Harry Connick Jr.), respectively.

The morning news program also touched on how groundbreaking the series was for its portrayal of gay people.

"These characters, as well as they are written, are just speaking their truth," Hayes revealed during the interview. "To me, being gay, I'm around gay people everyday, so it wasn't so newsworthy that there were gay characters on television, I understand why. It's been my normal life, so we're just sharing that part of our lives with you."

Mullally added that Will and Jack being gay is just one part of who they are as people.

"They have careers, they have hopes and dreams, they're gay, and they go to the grocery store, that's how it is in real life," she explained.

"But they go to a gay grocery store," joked McCormack.

"That's true, they buy gay groceries," Mullally added.

The two best friends might be living together, but they haven't been roommates the entire time since we last saw them. Their living arrangement is new, but it felt instantly like the good 'ol days.

In another segment, McCormack and Hayes took Morales on a tour of Will's apartment, which for the most part has stayed the same since the original run of the series. McCormack points out that the fireplace is new, and there are some updated touches—like a wine fridge—and eagle eyed viewers will spot a picture of a Grace and her mom, Bobbi, a tribute to the late Debbie Reynolds.

The Will & Grace revival has already been renewed for an eleventh season before this season even premieres, and Morales asked if the show was a hit, would the cast consider sticking around for years to come?

"These writers are so good. If they've got the stories, then yeah [I'm sticking around]!" said McCormack

"I'd still be doing it from the first time around," Mullally added. "So yeah, I'm in!"

In other Will & Grace news, it sounds like Minnie Driver's begging worked because the actress will return as Lorraine Finster, Karen's arch nemesis from the original series, for a cameo on the new season.

Messing posted a picture of her and Driver on the set of the revival:

The 16-episode ninth season of Will & Grace premieres Thursday, September 28 on NBC.
