Will And Sonny Get Married On "Days of Our Lives": Daytime's First Gay-Male Wedding

Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis made it legal on NBC's Days of Our Lives today, becoming the first gay male couple to get married on U.S. daytime television. (ABC’s All My Children aired the first same-sex soap wedding in 2009, when Eden and Tamara got married in matching couture gowns.)

The ceremony, performed by veteran Days actress Deidre Hall, was teased out over a three-day storyline culminating today. "So honored to be part of history right now. Thanks to the LGBT community for inspiring me with your courage and your strength everyday," tweeted Freddie Smith, who plays Kiriakis.

Guy Wilson, who took over the part of Will from Chandler Massey earlier this year, tweeted a message of his own:

NBC posted images from the Horton-Kiriakis ceremony on the DOOL Twitter account. "[i] Love that my 4-year-old is sitting here watching the wedding with me, and finds it all perfectly wonderful! " commented user autumna13 "Congratulations to Days, for once again breaking boundaries."
