Will Jeffery Get Away With Murder On "The Haves And The Have Nots?": SOAPS

Plus, Iolo breaks up with William on “People of the Valley” and Patrick is a target for revenge on “River City”

LANGFORDS PICKS AND PANS

Emmerdale (U.K.)

I'm not sure anymore what is going on here. The show is saying whatever happened between Gordon and Aaron was pretty dark and it’s obvious given Aaron’s disbelief when Chas told Aaron about Gordon’s version of why Aaron is so off with him that there's so much more to the story.

But I’m not getting the feeling that there was sexual abuse involved, which is the going theory. So what else could it be?

Regarding Aaron self abusing himself again, I'm really getting bored with this plot point. The show has trotted it out far too often. And given that Aaron has a long history of this, including suicide attempts, it doesn't make sense that Cain would believe Aaron's claims that he wasn't hurting himself and that he was going to therapy. These people should know better at this point. Cain should be much more alarmed.

Sigh! It’s no surprise that Chas agreed to secretly date Gordon. She’s always been lousy when it came to men and she’s always put them before Aaron.

I think it's ridiculous that literally half the town knows that Ross shot Robert, but the police can’t catch a clue. I’m just wondering when Aaron will find out. It won’t be pretty.

Pete and Moira's flirtation is super creepy. Soaps are of chock full of inappropriate relationships, but Moira is Pete’s aunt. No they are not related by blood, but they've known each other since Pete was a child. Yuck.

Then there’s the whole cheating thing, a storyline this show uses all too much lately.

Holby City (U.K.)

The adventure in the woods was fun even if it's a strange way to decide on a research grant.

I liked the things that Dom said about Arthur and their friendship. The development of their relationship has been one of the best things about Dom’s storyline. Of course they have more chemistry with each other than any of their various love interests, but maybe that's why it's so compelling to watch.

Hey, is Dom gonna get some loving from that doctor who asked him out at the end? I hope so, especially before Lee’s inevitable return.

Neighbours (Australia)

Are Nate and Aaron going to get a storyline or be even a little interesting this season? God, they are boring.

Nate getting back at Paul for blackmailing Aaron seems to ignore that the reason why Aaron was blackmailed was because he pretended that Paul was being stalked so Aaron could get paid to act as Paul’s bodyguard. Aaron wasn’t innocent and he was no victim in that.

Yet Nate continues to pretend that Aaron wasn't the bad guy. Nate, who's been written as a pretty stand up guy, has always ignored Aaron's questionable behavior. And the show doesn't portray it as dysfunction in their relationship, which could be an interesting story point, but instead whitewashes all the shady things Aaron has done. Shame. It's also lazy writing.

River City (Scotland)

Oh boy. This is not going to end well for Patrick. Since Caitlin is hinting that Patrick is ‘grooming’ Drew, I can see where this is going. Caitlin is a terrible mother and an awful person, so I bet she’d have no problem claiming that Patrick put the moves on her son. I hope I’m wrong as I’d hate to see Patrick go through that, but that seems to be the next beat in the story.

People of the Valley (Wales)

So that’s it for Iolo and William? Well that was the lamest breakup I’ve seen in quite sometime.

For starters, Iolo was complaining about his relationship with William? Geez! These sudden problems are crappy way to set up this arc when we’ve seen so little of their interaction as a couple on screen.

But the worst part was William, who’d never shown these violent tendencies before suddenly threatening Sion to keep quiet about the shooting just in time for Iolo to hear it and Sion to tell Iolo (half) of the truth about what really happened. Contrived, much?

The big question is, why didn’t William tell Iolo about Sion's involvement? There just didn’t seem to be any reason, in story, for William not to tell what he knows, especially since he already vowed to do so last week if Sion exposed him. Instead, he just meekly left town with his tail between his legs.

I’m sure the truth will come out down the line, but given that William is seemingly gone, it’s too late for Iolo and William to try and work things out. Sigh! Poor Iolo had it right when he cried about things never working out for him and that he always winds up alone.

The thing is, Iolo will never be happy as long as he continues to let his father manipulate and control him. William said it enough times and he's right.

I guess since the show never really invested in Iolo and William as a couple, such a lame ending was inevitable. I just wonder how long it’ll be before Iolo finds out everything about his father. And will he have to wait another few years to get a new boyfriend? Let's hope not.

The Haves and the Have Nots (U.S.)

Lord this show is still ridiculous and over the top. Yet it can still be actually entertaining at times. I found myself enjoying last week’s season premiere.

That scene where Veronica was forced by the police to take off her wig and reveal her cornrows was hilarious. And Kathryn’s reaction was priceless.

And while I LOLed when Candace destroyed Jeffery’s phone, the scene was kind of dumb. The police wouldn’t be calling back or trying to trace the call on a hangup. They must get dozens of those everyday. That simply wouldn’t happen.

I also got a kick out of Candace and Jeffery trying to stuff Quincy’s big ass dead body in the trash bags? Ha! I hope they were the super strength Hefty bags!

On the downside, THATH always has to remind us how weak gays are with Jeffery’s whining, crying and freaking out over Quincy’s death while Candace stayed strong and kept her wits about her. She even has to tell Jeffery to 'man up'. Thanks show!

Still Candace is the world’s worst lawyer if she thinks the police wouldn’t believe what happened was self defense. Quincy was a convicted felon who’d already attacked both she and Jeffery. No reason why the cops wouldn't believe them. Of course that wouldn't service the plot if they were to do the right thing, would it?

However, Candace is right when she said that Veronica would use her power and influence to hold the murder over Jeffery’s head to control and manipulate him. That should be motivation enough for Jeffery to want to keep the murder a secret and that's what the show should have primarily gone with.

Did Jeffery and Candace shower together? In the first scene, he was already in the shower and she was taking her clothes off. When they came back to them for the second scene, she was out of the shower and dressing and he was just finishing. So what happened?

Landon is still a cutie pie. I'm surprised he's around, but I'm glad he is. I guess the show is going to continue he and Jeffery's relationship, even if I don't get what Landon sees in Jeffery. Sure, his body is amazing, but closet cases, especially ones with pregnant girlfriends are never fun.

As slow as this show moves, Wyatt can get a hearing to get his inheritance in a day -- and without his parents having say in the matter? Yep, totally believable.
