Will Young Reminds Us That "What The World Needs Now Is Love"
Will Young has released a cover of the 1965 Burt Bacharach classic "What The World Needs Now," and it's absolutely stunning.
The cover is part of the World Wildlife Funds's new holiday World Wide Fund for Nature campaign, showcasing the devastation of the environment since the 1970s and some of the beautiful creatures imperiled by mankind's intrusion.
The song has been recorded by numerous artists—most famously Dionne Warwick—but Young puts his own stamp on it here, with a quiet yet emotional delivery.
"It's shocking that to think in my lifetime, global wildlife populations have declined by more than 50% and our forests and oceans remain at risk," the out singer said of the campaign. "It's a real wake up call."
Let's hope so.
