Dustin Lance Black’s ABC miniseries When We Rise is filled to the brim with famous faces chronicling decades of LGBT history, and last night’s episode focusing on the ’90s featured a cameo from Willam Belli.
The out-of-drag queen played Jason, an angry ACT UP activist who rallied against the AIDS Quilt, in Thursday’s installment of the eight-part series.
Willam posted a set photo with Guy Pearce, who plays gay activist Cleve Jones in the project, and shared that he learned a few behind-the-scenes secrets from the star’s cult classic, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Despite an all-star cast and the vital need for these LGBT stories to be told, When We Rise is falling in the ratings.
Variety reports that the miniseries lost almost 1 million viewers from its premiere, garnering an audience of 2.05 million on Wednesday night with a 0.6 demo rating.
Watch the final installment of When We Rise Friday night at 9pm on ABC.
