Baby Butch Winona Ryder Got Beaten Up In Seventh Grade—By Bullies Who Thought She Was A Gay Boy

"I heard people saying, 'Hey, f*ggot.' They slammed my head into a locker. I fell to the ground and they started to kick the shit out of me."

Eccentric actress Winona Rider has talked openly about being bullied in her youth, but a story about her getting her redemption has gone viral.

A Winona fan tweeted a photo of the star as a young baby butch alongside her account of encountering one of her bullies later in life and refusing them an autograph. The tweet, which has thousands of RTs and likes, confirmed that Winona Ryder is "that bitch."

While attending Kenilwith Junior High in Petaluma, California, Ryder says she was bashed and bullied for sporting short hair and wearing an old Salvation Army boy’s suit. "I think they thought I was a gay boy," the Stranger Things star recalled, according to Nigel Goodall's 1998 book, Winona Ryder: The Biography.

“As I went to the bathroom I heard people saying, ‘Hey, faggot.’ They slammed my head into a locker. I fell to the ground and they started to kick the shit out of me. I had to have stitches."

Instead of disciplining her attackers, though the school expelled Ryder.

“Years later, I went to a coffee shop and I ran into one of the girls who’d kicked me. And she said, ‘Winona, Winona, can I have your autograph?’ And I said, ‘Do you remember me? Remember in seventh grade you beat up that kid?’ And she said, ‘Kind of.’ And I said, ‘That was me. Go fuck yourself.’”

In conclusion, Winona Ryder can pull off any look and knows that living well (with Emmys, Oscar nominations, hit TV shows, and iconic films) is the best revenge.
