Winona Ryder Signs On For Netflix Supernatural Series

Making her series television debut, former teen queen Winona Ryder has signed on to star in an as-yet-unnamed supernatural series for Netflix billed as “a love letter to the 80s classics that captivated a generation.”

The show was previously known under the working title Montauk.

Set in the 80s, the show follows the disappearance of a 2-year-old boy, leading to a frantic search by friends, family and police, ans well as top-secret government experiments, supernatural forces and one very strange girl.

Ryder plays Joyce, the boy's working-class mom determined to rescue her son from unknown forces. Tony nominee David Harbour (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf) plays the town’s chief of police.

Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, who brought us Wayward Pines, will write and direct all eight episodes of the series, slated to debut in 2016. Before that, Noni will appear in the HBO mini Show Me a Hero.
