Darren Young takes no prisoners

WWE superstar Darren Young ran into TMZ at the airport as he flew into Los Angeles for Summer Slam and TMZ asked what was become the standard question for athletes - "Do you think a gay wrestler could be successful in the WWE?" The answer they got shocked the TMZ cameraman when he said "Absolutely. Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."

There's something empowering in the casual way that Young, an up and comer on Prime Time On Raw dropped the information. He's happy and it's just who he is. One can't help but believe that the WWE would have rather exploited the revelation on television for ratings though, because they could have made one heck of a show out of it.

Young is currently partnered with Titus O’Neil as part of the Prime Time Players, regularly taking on big names like CM Punk in the ring on Monday nights on television.

With more athletes and entertainers coming out, especially in traditionally "macho" sports like boxer Orlando Cruz in boxing and now Darren Young in wrestling, youth today have a whole new set of role models to look up to, and a reason to watch wrestling besides the muscular guys in tights.
