Yum: Expensive Deep Fried Art

Ever wondered what might happen if you were to accidentally drop your new iPad in a boiling hot fryer full of oil (other than lots of crying)? Thankfully, you won’t have to sacrifice any of your fancy gadgetry, because New Zealand-born photographer Henry Hargreaves has done it for us.

Inspired by a Japanese man who supposedly deep-fried and ate his PSP controller, Hargreaves collected up his friend’s discarded electronics and plunged them into a vat of 400 degree oil. Hargreaves chose the deep frying method to illustrate the way consumers completely drop outmoded technology once they’re over it. “You get the device, you’re excited about it, you consume it, and then you disregard it,” he said.

There’s something rather sinister about the battered and fried objects starring back from Hargreaves’ frames, covered in a slick coating of oil and grease, don’t you think?
