Zac Efron Is Wearing The World's Longest Below-The-Knee Board Shorts On The Set Of "Baywatch"

For the love of god, who is the costume designer?!

Paparazzos in Boca Raton, Florida were among the first to snag a glimpse of Zac Efron and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on the set of the new Baywatch movie this week, snapping photos of the two beach bums in their board shorts and skin-tight surf tops.

The guys are straight-up bae, obviously, but there's just one major problem with the costume. Zac Efron's board shorts are like, so freaking long that they extend almost down past his knee.

What is this, 2001?

The board shorts of the original Baywatch weren't much shorter, but they at least came above-the-knee. And perhaps most importantly, some male cast members of the original Baywatch wore Speedos.

What is this mess on Zac Efron?

The Rock posted the first official shot of the two in costume on Instagram.

He wrote: "EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: #BAYWATCH Day 1. My character "Mitch Buchannon" just gave @zacefron's character "Matt Brody" the all important beach speech about what it means to have manly "Alpha balls". Zac's ad-libbed responses were brilliant! Talented and great dude. World get ready to have some fun, 'cause the beach will never be the same again. #OnSet #BAYWATCH #Day1 #AlphaBalls #NowWhoNeedsMouthToMouth??"

It was quickly followed by another post from Zac: "First day protecting the bay is a wrap. Thanks to the big guy (Dwayne). Stay tuned. More adventures lie ahead. #speedoready #baywatch"

Here's hoping these puritanical shorts only stick around for the first scene, where Zac's character learns they're not a good look, and therefore permanently switch to briefs.
