Zales "We Believe" Ad Incorporates Gay Wedding, Outrages One Million Moms

"Zales is glorifying sin, and no sin should be placed in the spotlight and honored."

After featuring a same-sex wedding in its latest advertisement, major jewelry brand Zales is facing criticism from the ultra-conservative Christian group One Million Moms.

The ad is part of the company's new "We Believe" campaign.

"We believe that the world needs more love that lasts, love that grows, love that’s worth waiting for," says a narrator over scenes of happy couples and families, one of which happens to be a pair of young brides on their wedding day.

The commercial was shared online earlier this month, but it wasn't until this past Monday that One Million Moms released a statement condemning it.

"Zales Jewelers should be ashamed of attempting to normalize sin by featuring two women getting married in their latest commercial," it began.

"Zales is using public airwaves to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and belittle the sanctity of marriage in an attempt to redefine marriage," it continued. "Even though homosexuality is unnatural, this advertisement is pushing the LGBTQ agenda."

It concluded: "Zales crossed a line that should have never been crossed...Zales is glorifying sin, and no sin should be placed in the spotlight and honored. This goes for homosexuality as well."

OMM went on to encourage supporters to contact Zales directly to complain about the advertisement. It also suggested that people go into stores and inform local managers that they'll be taking their shopping elsewhere.

One Million Moms has previously launched hate campaigns against H&M, American Girl dolls and even Adam Lambert concerts.

Fortunately, the group's initiatives have rarely, if ever, been successful.
