“Zombie Boy” Model Rick Genest Dies at 32

The model passed away days before his 33rd birthday.

Rick Genest—a model whose best known for his full-body tattoos and starring in Lady Gaga’s Born This Way video—has died at 32.

The model, also known as “Zombie Boy,” died by suicide Thursday. Reports say that his body was found in his home in Montreal, Canada days before his 33rd birthday.

Genest was a model and actor, best known for his unusual body art. Genest has had bone and organ tattoos all over his body, earned a Guinness World Record for most insects (he had 176 in total) tattooed on the body. He also gained further fame for his role in Lady Gaga’s Born This Way video in 2011. His modeling career also launched around this time, as he led a Thierry Mugler campaign at this time, becoming a catwalk regular and landing on the cover of magazines such as GQ, Vogue Hommes, and Vogue Japan.

Following the news of Genest’s passing, Lady Gaga posted a message to her Twitter sharing her condolences:

“We have to work harder to change the culture, bring mental health to the forefront and erase the stigma that we can’t talk about it. If you are suffering, call a friend or family today,” the singer added. “We must save each other.”
