Courtney Act Attended Trump's Inauguration, Deserves Hazard Pay

"Donald Trump is the President of the United States of America now—that is a real thing, people."

This past Friday, Courtney Act boldly went where few drag queens would dare to go—the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

The RuPaul's Drag Race alum braved the thin crowds to speak with both supporters and protesters about America's new president.

"I know that when I went to the Trump rally in Connecticut I said that it would be my first and hopefully only Trump rally," the queen began in the segment for Junkee. "But today, we’re not at a Trump rally, we’re at a Trump inauguration."

The cameras then followed the Australian beauty as she canvassed the crowd of Trump enthusiasts, asking voters for their thoughts on the billionaire's controversial opinions.

"Donald Trump is a little bit misunderstood," explained one supporter. "He’s just a regular guy and he might have a lot of money but he speaks to us."

When asked about Trump's plans to fully defund Planned Parenthood, one man responded, "We don’t need to rely on an organization whose primary mission... is to kill the unborn and sell their body parts," all while holding on to his teenage daughter.

Last summer, Act attended a Trump rally, where she spoke to the crowd about Trump's plans to build a wall along the Mexico–United States border and the future President's rampant islamophobia.

"Not one of them made any sense — and I don’t just mean their views didn’t align with mine," she later wrote of the experience. "It was their use of the English language that didn’t make sense. None of them spoke in complete sentences or seemed to listen, comprehend or properly respond to what I was saying."
