Pulse Nightclub To Be Turned Into Permanent Monument

State filings indicate the owners hope to turn the club into a monument to those killed in the June 12 massacre.

A permanent memorial is being planned at Pulse nightclub, the site of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, reports WESH.

Papers filed with the state of Florida indicate a newly formed nonprofit, OnePulse Foundation, will use donations for “conceiving, funding and aiding in the construction of a permanent memorial on the existing Pulse site in Orlando... and other relevant sites to be determined by the Board,”

Money raised will also go to help with victims’ financial burdens.

Barbara Poma, Pulse's owner, had initially stated she hoped to reopen. Earlier this month she told WESH, “we do not yet know the future” of the club. But on Tuesday, a spokesperson said Poma intends to turn the club into a memorial.
